Addition and Subtraction of Weights
To add or subtract the weights with kg and g, firstly we arrange them in columns of kg
and g afterthat add or subtract them.
Let’s Attempt
kg g
Example 1: Add 78 kg 550 g and 39 kg 220 g. 1
7 8 5 5 0
Solution: Thus, 78 kg 550 g + 39 kg 220 g + 3 9 2 2 0
= 117 kg 770 g 1 1 7 7 7 0
Example 2: Subtract 35 kg 275 g from 50 kg 394 g. kg g
4 10 8 14
Solution: Thus, 50 kg 394 g – 35 kg 275 g 5 0 3 9 4
= 15 kg 119 g – 3 5 2 7 5
1 5 1 1 9
Exercise 10.5
1. Add the following.
(a) kg g (b) kg g (c) kg g
2 3 1 9 2 8 4 2 7 5 1 0 3 0 2 0
+ 1 8 3 6 5 + 9 1 6 5 + 7 3 1 9 2
(d) kg g (e) kg g (f) kg g
6 8 0 0 5 2 6 8 7 6 0 3 6 0 1 9 2
+ 2 5 1 2 3 + 9 4 1 8 5 + 2 1 0 0 3 5
2. Subtract the following.
(a) kg g (b) kg g (c) kg g
4 3 9 7 2 8 4 4 3 7 8 1 0 2 5 7
– 1 9 3 2 1 – 9 6 2 5 – 1 4 9 0 6 3
(d) kg g (e) kg g (f) kg g
8 0 2 5 1 6 2 4 7 4 3 8 4 3
– 7 0 0 0 – 1 9 9 9 – 1 2 0 0 9
