1. A tailor needs 1 m 75 cm of cloth for a pair of trouser and 2 m 35 cm for a shirt. What
total length of cloth does he need?
2. A building with a flagstaff has the length of 19 m 75 cm. If the height of flagstaff is
5 m 15 cm, find the height of the building.
3. How much is 18 km 670 m less than 30 km?
4. A rod 9 m 35 cm long was put in a pond to measure the depth. If 3 m 87 cm of the
rod remains outside water, what is the depth of the pond?
5. During a long jump competition, Sahil jumped 97 cm more than Kushal. If Kushal
jumped 9 m 34 cm, how long did Sahil jump?
6. During a visit to his relative’s house, Mr. Gupta covered 18 km 375 m by bus and
4 km 299 m by car. Find the total distance covered by him.
Measurement of Weight
The weight of an object tells us “How heavy an object is".
In day-to-day life, weight is used to measure how much heavy the object is. The weight
of any object can be measured with the help of a balance and some known weights.
Units of Weight
Kilogram
The standard unit of weight is kilogram and it is denoted as ‘kg’.
For example, we measure the weight of a bag of rice in ‘kilograms’. We also measure our
own weight in 'kilograms'.
Gram
The smaller unit of weight is gram and it is denoted as ‘g’.
For example, we measure the weight of few apples, spices, etc. in grams.
