        Elements of Communication Cycle
Communication is a two-way process in which exchange of information takes place between sender and the
        receiver.
A Channel (or path), such as Phone/

                                                Elements of Communication Cycle

Let us discuss the integral elements in the process of communication cycle.
 Sender: The sender initiates the communication. A sender is the source of the message that is to be delivered
to the receiver through an appropriate channel.

 Idea by Sender: The fi rst element in the process of communication is an idea that originates within the
mind of the sender. The sender has to decide how to communicate it-orally, written or through visuals.
 Message: Message is the most crucial element of effective communication. A message is the particular
content that the sender wishes to send to the receiver. For example, as we walk across the road and see
a friend walking towards us, we make eye contact, wave, smile, and say “hello”. We are conveying a
message that is intentional, spoken, verbal and non-verbal.
 Encoding: Encoding means converting source message in a set of symbols that can be communicated to the
receiver. The success of communication depends on the way the message is encoded. This is done by using
correct words, symbols, pictures and sound.

 Communication Channel: The In communication cycle, noise is anything
method of communication is called that distorts the message being transformed
successfully. It interferes with the process of
channel. It forms the link between the communication and affects the communication
sender and the receiver. The message flow between the sender and the receiver.
travels from one end to another via
channel of communication. Some of the channels are face-to-face conversation, video-conferencing, radio,
              television, telephone conversation, etc.
