          Prepositions of Time and Date

          These prepositions include at, in, on, during, over, for, since, till, until, by, from, to, between, before, after.

          Study the following sentences carefully.
              1.  She was born in 1980 on Saturday at 10:50 p.m.

              2.  He is enjoying tea during the winter season.
              3.  She has been in this job for five years/since 2020.

              4.  Hold these pigeons till/until sunset.
              5.  By the end of this month, they will have left for Mumbai.

              6.  The matches will go on from October to December.
              7.  I can see you before/after your office hours.
              8.  I have seen him a lot over the last few weeks.

          Prepositions of Direction and Distance

          These prepositions include across, along, down, up, towards, off, away, to, into, out, over, onto.

          Study the following sentences carefully.

              1.  The bear ran up the stairs.
              2.  The lion was going towards its den.

              3.  The boy ran across the road fast.
              4.  She has a walk along the riverbank.

              5.  The dog jumped through the ring of fire.
              6.  The boy jumped down the running train.

              7.  The birds flew away to its nest.
              8.  The gun went off suddenly, and it killed a man.

              9.  Pour coffee into the cups, and serve it to the guests.
            10.  They rushed out of the room and got onto the roof.

            11.  The stone rolled over a large distance.

          Prepositions and the Determiner —The

          The nouns mosque, church, hospital, school, college, bed, sea, work, market, prison, and court do

          not take the before them if any of them is visited for its primary purpose.
              1.  They go to church to pray.                   2.  They go to market as buyers.

              3.  They go to school as pupils.                 4.  They go to office as workers.
