A preposition is a word usually used before a noun or pronoun.

A preposition expresses the link of its object with some other noun
or pronoun mentioned before it in the same sentence.
1. I have been doing this job for a week.
2. The fox hid itself behind the wall.
3. The dog is going up the stairs.
But in interrogative sentences and in the passive voice, prepositions are often moved to the end
of the sentence.
1. Whom were you talking to?
2. What did you open the lock with?
3. War reporters are sometimes shot at.
