4. Select the picture you want to insert in the document and click the Insert
button.

Word inserts the selected picture in the document.

Formatting Pictures

When you insert a picture in a document, the Picture Tools Format tab appears on
the Ribbon. It provides various options to format the appearance of a picture.

Applying Artistic Effects

You can apply various artistic effects to a picture to make it look like a sketch, drawing,
or painting. 2

To apply an artistic effect to a picture:
1. Select the picture.
2. On the Picture Tools Format tab, click the
Artistic Effects button in the Adjust group.

The Artistic Effects gallery appears. 1
3. Move the mouse pointer over an effect to
preview it on the selected picture.
4. Click the effect that you want to apply to

the picture.
Word applies the selected artistic effect
to the picture.

You can enhance a picture by applying various effects, such as shadow, glow, bevel,
and 3-D rotation.

To apply an effect to a picture: 2
