PARAGRAPH FORMATTING

A Paragraph in Word can contain one word, one sentence, or multiple sentences.
Paragraph formatting lets you control the arrangement of text in a paragraph. Paragraph
formatting can be applied to one paragraph at a time or multiple paragraphs at once.

Alignment

The blank spaces between the edge of a page and the text on the page is called
Margin. Every page in a document has four margins – left, right, top, and bottom.

Alignment defines the horizontal position of text in a paragraph between the left and
right page margins. Word 2019 offers four alignment options to format a paragraph.

Alignment Option Function

It sets the text from the left margin of a page. This is the default
Align Left text alignment in Word 2019.

Center It sets the text in the centre of the left and right page margins.

Align Right It sets the text from the right margin of a page.

Justify It sets the text from the left page margin to the right margin.

To change the alignment of a paragraph:

1. Position the cursor in the paragraph you wish to align. 2

2. On the Home tab, click one of the alignment buttons

in the Paragraph group to align the paragraph

accordingly.
Word aligns the paragraph according to the selected option.
