ACTIVITY 1.3

        OBJECTIVE
        To verify distributive law for three given non-empty sets A, B and C, i.e., A ∪ (B ∩ C) = (A ∪ B) ∩ (A ∪ C)

        MATERIAL REQUIRED
 Cardboard  White chart paper  Pair of scissors  Gluestick
 Board pins  Colour chart paper  Pencil

        PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE

            1. Knowledge of sets 3. Knowledge of operations on sets
            2. Knowledge of Venn diagrams

        PROCEDURE
            1. Take a piece of cardboard of a convenient size and place a white chart paper on it with the help of board pins.

            2. Take a coloured chart paper
and cut six rectangular strips U U U
of 6 cm by 4 cm from it and
               paste them on a cardboard
               in two consecutive rows
such that 3 of them in one
               row and remaining 3 of U U U
them in the next row just
               below the three rectangular
               strips above.
            3. Write ‘U’ in the left/right
top corner of each rectangle Fig. (a)
               as shown in Fig. (a).
            4. Draw three circles and mark them as A, B and C in each of the six rectangular strips as shown in Fig. (b).

                                               U U U
