Physical disability instils a sense of dependency in a person. Such persons may suffer from
social discrimination and exclusion. This may lead to low self-confidence. However a positive
attitude and strong will can surely help a disabled person to overcome his physical limitations.
Tips for Building Self-confidence
Self-confi dence is a quality we build when we believe in our strength to succeed in anything we do in life. People
who are self-confi dent have faith that they can do anything and emerge winner in any situation.
Being self-confi dent has many benefi ts. It helps us perform better, get noticed and appreciated for our work.
On the other hand, shyness and lack of self-confi dence can seriously sabotage our efforts and stop us from
getting what we deserve. Gaining self-confi dence is a process. We can’t build self-confi dence overnight.
Self-confi dence is a habit that can be cultivated. And though we need time and energy to create this new habit,
the good news is that we can do it because it is something under our control. Here are some tips for building
self-confi dence.
Positive Attitude
Positive attitude means focusing on the positives even in the times of adversity.
To feel more self-confi dent, we use positive affi rmation. Always speak positive statements that are meant to
reprogram the mind to see us in a better light.
These include statements such as: “I am worthy”, “I’m a great leader”, “Everybody likes me”, and so on. So,
write down the positive statements on a piece of paper and put it somewhere where you can always see it ,
where you have no other choice but to look at it.
Personal Hygiene
Personal hygiene is the practice of keeping ourselves clean. It helps in maintaining good health and well-being.
Personal hygiene not only helps us to stay healthy but creates a good image of ourselves. It boosts our confi dence
too as we do not feel ashamed in public due to bad breath or body odour.

Grooming
Often our lack of self-confi dence comes from the fact that we don’t feel good in our skin. We have a few extra
kilos which make us want to hide. We don’t care much about how we dress. Our haircut is out of fashion. Our
skin is not taken care of. Compare it to the great leaders. They look smart. It boosts their confi dence!
So get a nice haircut. Work out to get toned muscles. Remember once you feel good in your skin, you’ll start
