Guidelines for dressing and grooming
Speak Loud and Clear
The tone of our voice is directly linked to our confi dence. Shy people tend to keep their voice low. They don’t
want to draw attention, which they would if they speak up.
You probably have noticed it in your class. There is always a student, the loudest of all, very self-confi dent, who
doesn’t care much about what others think. And there are those who don’t talk much, they stay quiet, and even
when asked – they speak in such a way that people can’t really hear them.
So when you’re in the class speak up, project your voice, be loud and see what kind of an impact it has on your
confi dence.
Body Language
Confi dent people have a different body language. They walk tall. They keep their head up. They look into the
other’s eyes. They also keep their body fl exible.
Whenever we feel bad about ourselves, we feel down or hurt, we tend to close down not only emotionally but
physically too. We try to become as small as possible, so people don’t notice us. We curl up, so we limit the
surface of exposure.
Lack of self-confi dence manifests itself in such a body language. A way to build confi dence is to adopt a body
language that speaks of somebody who looks confi dent.
Embrace the Strengths
Rather than thinking of what we are bad at and working on it, we must embrace our strengths. This will help us
to believe in how good we are and boost our self-confi dence.
Appreciate the Achievements
Our confi dence is dependent on how much we believe to win ourselves. If we don’t notice successes in life, our
self-confi dence is likely to be low. We tend to look in the future and always compare ourselves to that better
version of ourselves we would like to be. We often forget, though, about how far we have already come and
how much we have already achieved. We rarely look in the past and see how we used to be few years ago and
compare it to who we are.
