Step 1:  Select the cells with numeric values that are to be formatted.

            Step 2:  Click on Format menu and select Cells option. The Format Cells dialog box appears with the Number
                     tab selected in it.































            Step 3:  Select the required format from the category list as:
                     •  Number: To display the general format of number.

                     •  Currency: To show values in currency format with selected currency sign.
                     •  Date: To display date serial numbers as date value using various formats.
                     •  Time: To display time serial numbers as data value using various formats.
                     •  Percent: Multiply the cell value with 100 and show % sign.

                     •  Fraction: To show fractional values.
                     •  Scientifi c: To show more precise fractions.

            Step 4:  Set the other options of the selected category like decimal places, negative numbers, format in case of
                     date/time or symbol in case of currency, etc.

            Step 5:  Click the OK button. The selected numbers will appear in the desired format.

            Formatting a Range of Cells Using Decimal Places
            To format a range of cells as decimal places, follow the given steps:
            Step 1:  Select the text which is to be formatted.

            Step 2:  Click on Format menu and select Cells option.  The Format Cells dialog box appears with the Number
                     tab selected in it.

            Step 3:  Click on the Number option.
            Step 4:  Under Options section, use the spinner buttons in Decimal places option to set the decimal precision.
            Step 5:  Click the OK button.
