Number Formatting
Most of the data values entered in a worksheet are of number type which are represented in General format by
default. But a number can represent a quantity, amount, percentage, date, time, etc. Calc offers different types of
number formatting to show the entered number in a specifi c format without affecting the values.
Number Formatting Using the Toolbar
To quickly format a value entered in a cell to currency, percent, number, date or add decimal places, use the
corresponding buttons in the Formatting toolbar. Note that the default formatting is dependent on the local
settings. If, for example, you have an English Indian setting, the currency symbol will be the Rupees (`) sign
instead of the dollar sign.
