Computers are nowadays widely used in a variety of fi elds. For users, a computer is a tool that provides the
desired information, whenever it is needed. It also has the ability to process different types of data with ease.
Some of the major areas of computer applications are listed below:

IT in Home Computing
The use of computers at home is very prevalent. For a lot of people, computers
are the primary source of entertainment. Checking emails, work from home,
ordering food online, ordering goods online, and browsing of websites are just
some of the uses for which computers are being used at home. A computer can
also be used to study a wide range of online training courses at home. Computers
are also used to play games. For example, children are often found hooked to
their mobile phones to play games like Angry Birds, PUBG, Temple Run, etc.

IT in Everyday Life
IT has become an important part of our daily life. Its infl uence can be seen when
we use washing machines, microwave oven and many other products based
on embedded software. We use computers to store information regarding our
work, appointments, schedules list of contacts, etc. Hence, computers play a
vital role in our everyday life.

IT in Library

Libraries use the information technology to increase the effi ciency and
effectiveness of their day-to-day library work and services. In this way, a
lot of the load of the librarian has been eased. Nowadays many libraries are
computerized. Each book has a barcode associated with it. This barcode makes
easier for the library to a keep track of books and the availability of a specifi c
book.
