Handling Office Equipment

        The office equipment should be handled carefully, otherwise, it could lead to injuries. For example, sharp-
        edged tools can cause cuts, if not handled properly. The organisation should provide appropriate training and a
        relevant manual to all the staff members about  handling equipment.

        Handling Objects

        Handling objects in the workplace is a common activity that can pose various risks, if not done properly. Here
        are some key considerations and best practices for safe object handling:
        v   Identify the type of object to determine how heavy the object is. If it is too heavy, lift it using mechanical aids.
        v   Use proper lifting techniques, such as keep your back straight throughout the lift or keep the object close to
            your body to reduce strain on your back.
        v   Take breaks and practice self-care to avoid fatigue or any kind of discomfort.

        Stress at Work

        Stress at the workplace is a common issue that can impact employees’ mental and physical health, productivity,
        and overall well-being. It is important to understand the causes, effects, and management strategies for work-
        related stress as chronic stress can lead to headaches, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular diseases,
        and weakened immune response.

        Hazard Control
        Hazard Control is a fundamental aspect of the workplace that minimizes the likelihood and severity of accidents,
        injuries, and illnesses that can arise from exposure to hazards in the work environment.
        An organisation should adopt a  systematic approach used to prioritize the methods of hazard control based on
        effectiveness:
        v   Implementing physical changes to the workplace to reduce exposure to hazards.
        v   Modifying work procedures or policies to reduce risk.
        v   Provide safety training as it is an important part of every company’s safety program.
        v   If hazard elimination is not possible, consider replacing a hazard with a less dangerous alternative.


        Safety Guidelines Checklist
        Some of the safety guidelines to be followed at the workplace are:
        v   One should always report all work injuries and illness immediately.
        v   One should always keep their work areas clean and clear. Do not block emergency equipment or exists.
        v   Everyone should be educated about the safety requirements and tips.
        v   One should always obey safety signs, stickers, and tags.
        v   One should never take risks when it comes to safety.
        v   One should always believe that safety is your personal responsibility.
        v   One should never take shortcuts.

        v   One should be alert on the job and when in doubt, contact your supervisor for guidance.
