The common types of electrical hazards are overloaded circuits, worn-out wiring, faulty equipment, inadequate
grounding etc. At work, regular inspections by trained electricians can help and identify potential risks,
implement proper safety measures, and create a safer work environment.

            Fire Hazards
Some conditions or materials that increase the risk of ignition and the spread of fire at the workplace are
considered as fire hazards. The organisations should conduct regular fire risk assessments to identify potential
hazards and implement appropriate control measures to ensure that all exits, escape routes, fire extinguishers,
smoke detectors, and sprinkler systems are readily available and properly maintained.

            Health Hazards
Health hazards in the workplace can take many forms, including ergonomic hazards, noise, temperature
extremes etc., that affect employees’ physical and mental well-being. At the workplace, some dangers are not
easily seen, like problems with the lungs or heart.
For example, employees working in a noisy environment could damage their sense of hearing. Similarly,
employees working in bright lights and toxic fumes could damage the eyes and nose. Long-term exposure to
hazardous or toxic chemicals like solvents, pesticides, or heavy metals can lead to acute or chronic health issues.

Potential Sources of Hazards in an Organisation
Potential sources of hazards in an organization can vary widely depending on the nature of the work environment.
For example, bright lights behind a computer screen can make it challenging to view your work clearly.
Here, some preventive measures are given that helps the organisation to reduce the chances of hazards at the
            workplace:
            The workstation should:
v provide sufficient space for the user to alter position comfortably.
            v provide adequate lighting .
v have windows fitted with adjustable coverings to alter the sunlight level.
v be spacious enough when a workstation is shared by more than one person.
v use curtains on windows to block bright light without making the room too dark.

            Hazards of Using Computers

Spending a lot of time in front of screens cause severe health problems, including:
v eye strains v stiff neck
v dry eyes v burning in the upper back
v aching wrists v sore lower back

            v sore shoulders
