2. The Cap Seller Aan The Monkeys

Once upon a time, there was a cap seller who lived in a village. He made beautiful
caps and sold them to the shopkeepers in a nearby town. He often went to fairs to

          sell his caps.

One hot summer day, the cap seller was going to a fair with his bundle of caps. It
was noon and the scorching sun was just unbearable. The cap seller saw a big shady

tree by the way-side and thought of taking a rest for some time in the cool shade. He
himself had a cap on, too.

Reaching the shady tree, the cap seller placed his bundle of caps and sat leaning
against the trunk of the tree. A cool breeze comforted him and before long he fell
          fast asleep.

A number of monkeys were sitting on the branches of the tree. They saw the cap
seller lying asleep. He had a cap on his head. The monkeys felt curious and decided

to imitate him. So they came down, untied the bundle, and took out all the caps. Each
of the monkeys put on a cap and went up the tree again.

After some time, the cap seller woke up and was surprised to see his caps missing.
Suddenly, he looked up and found each monkey wearing a cap. He pelted stones at

them to get back his caps, but all in vain. Feeling helpless and angry, he took off his
cap and threw it on the ground saying, “Take this away as well.”
