Read the daily routine of Amit and underline all the verbs in it.

My name is Amit. I wake up at 7 o’clock daily. After getting up, I brush my teeth
and take a bath. After that, I get ready for my school. I reach school at 8 o’clock.

I eat my lunch during the lunch break, and I share my food with my friends.

To talk about the actions that take place in the present, we use the simple present

          tense.

The words do, take, cook, write, teach, sing and dance are all verbs. These verbs are in

their root or base forms. Such verbs are used in the simple present tense.

Observe the use of the root form of the verbs in these sentences.

            1. They take a bath in the morning.

            2. We eat food.

            3. We go to school every day.

In the above sentences, the verbs take, eat, and go are in their original, simplest forms.

We call these the root forms. Therefore, they are in the simple present tense.

Sometimes, we add -s or -es to the root form of the verbs to make them agree with
          singular subjects.

Observe the use of the root form of the verbs with -s or -es in these sentences.

            1. He goes to the office.

            2. She comes here daily.

            3. It rains.
