15 15 Present Continuous Tense

Fill in the blanks with the ing form of the verbs given in brackets. Also, use is, am
and are as required.

We use the present continuous tense to show an action that is going on at the time
of speaking. This tense tells us what is happening now.
Read the following sentences.
1. The boy is riding a bicycle.
2. I am going to Shimla.
3. My mother is cooking lunch for the guests.
In the above sentences, the groups of words is riding, am going, and is cooking are in
the present continuous tense.
Observe the formation of a sentence in the present continuous tense.
subject + is/am/are + root form of a verb + -ing + ...
She + is + go+ing + to the market.
We use is with singular subjects, are with plural subjects, and am with I.
