Use of ‘It’
We know that the word it is a personal pronoun. But it is also used in an impersonal
manner. Such sentences have no relation with any person.
Some points with ‘It’
It is used to introduce a sentence.
It is used to begin a sentence to denote the name of a month, day, date, time, weather
or distance.
It is always followed by a singular verb is/was.
A. To Express a Time
1. It is nightfall. 2. It is afternoon.
3. It is the third period. 4. It is quite late.
5. It is morning. 6. It is too early.
7. It is time for tea. 8. It is 7.15 a.m.
