P. 129
Playing With Construction 127
Now, let us construct a rectangle by following the steps given below:
Step 1: First of all, draw a horizontal line of 6 cm length
by the help for a scale and mark the end points as P 6 cm Q
P and Q.
Step 2: Now, with the help of protractor, mark a point Step 3: Now, draw the perpendicular line
‘K’ to draw a perpendicular to PQ through through point ‘K’ and mark another
point ‘P’. point ‘R’ on this line which is 8 cm far
from point ‘P’. So PR = 8 cm.
K
R

P 6 cm Q P 6 cm Q
Step 4: Now, again repeat the step (2) to draw an another perpendicular to PQ through point ‘Q’.
R

P Q
6 cm
Step 5: Now, draw an another perpendicular line Step 6: Now, meet the point ‘R’ and point ‘S’
through point ‘L’ and mark another point ‘S’ on with the help of scale. By measurement
this line with the help of scale which is also 8 of RS, we found that RS = 6 cm.
cm far apart from point ‘Q’. So, QS = 8 cm.
R 6 cm S
R S

8 cm 8 cm
P 6 cm Q P 6 cm Q
In this way, a rectangle of 6 cm and 8 cm
has been constructed.
