Example 2: Compare the numbers 4056 and 4213.
Solution: Both are 4-digit numbers. So, arrange them as per place value chart.

Example 3: Compare 3250 and 3290.
Solution: Both are 4-digit numbers. So, arrange them as per place value chart.

2 = 2
5 < 9 Thus, 3250 < 3290

Ascending and Descending Orders
When we arrange the numbers from the smallest to the greatest, the numbers are in
ascending order.
When we arrange the numbers from the greatest to the smallest, the numbers are in
descending order.
