Playing With Construction 125

Step 3: Now, draw a perpendicular line to AB at point A and this perpendicular
line also parallel to line BC. Now take the length of BC segment in D
compass and mark this on the new perpendicular line at point A. C
Now, meet the point D to C.
Here, AD = BC and AB = DC and all four angles ∠A, ∠B, ∠C
                 and ∠D are of 90°.

Now, in this way a rectangle having diagonals divides opposite angles 30°
                 into 60° and 30° have been constructed. A 60° B

POINT EQUIDISTANT FROM TWO GIVEN POINTS
According to this, we want to construct a point which is at the equal distance from two given points.
Now, Let’s construct this by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Here, we assume two points are given and they are located A B
at a particular distance. Now meet these two points and 5 cm
                 sketch a line segments.
Let it be assumed that AB = 5 cm.

Step 2: Now take a distance of 5 cm in compass and put one tip of compass at A and create or sketch an arc of
5 cm around A as it is shown in fig. below:

                                                A B
                                                                 5 cm

Step 3: Now repeat the process which has been used in Step (2) but the tip of compass is placed at point B and
sketch an arc of 5 cm around B as it is shown in fig. below:

                                      A B
                                                       5 cm

Step 4: Now we see in above fig that both are cut at one common point to each other that point is assume
                 to be ‘C’
Now meet the point A and B to C.
Here, by measurement we see that
                                     AC = BC = 5 cm
