“A clock is a tool to measure time” 1 year = 12 months
There are three main hands to tell 1 year = 365 days 6 hours
the time in a clock. 1 day = 24 hours
Hour hands 1 week = 7 days
Minute hands Fortnight = 2 weeks

Leap Year
Conversion “If the last two digits of a year is
1 hour = 60 minutes divisible by 4 then that year will be
leap year”. i.e. 2008, 2012, 2016 ......
1 minute = 60 seconds Conversion 1 leap year = 366 days
1 hour = 60 × 60 = 3600 seconds of Clock Time
Number of days in February = 29 days
12 HOURS TO 24 HOURS
24 HOURS TO 12 HOURS
1. a.m. to 24 hours
(i) Write hours in two digits 1. If First two Digits in hours Time < 12
(ii) Remove the colon (i) Put colon after two digits
e.g. 7 : 30 am (ii) Write a.m. behind the number
e.g. 0330 hours
0730 hours first two digits (03) <12 then 03 : 30 a.m.
2. p.m. to 24 hours 2. If First two Digits in hours Time > 12
(i) Write hours in two digits (i) Put colon after two digits
(ii) Remove the colon (ii) Subtract 12 from first two digits
(iii) Add 12 to the hours (iii) Write p.m. behind the number
e.g. 4 : 15 pm e.g. 1940 hours
first two digits (19) > 12 then 19 : 40
0415 + 12 = 1615 hours 19 – 12 = 07 07 : 40 p.m.
