          2. Your school bus started at 8:30 a.m. to carry the students to a picnic spot and reached the
spot at 1:15 p.m. How long did it take to reach the picnic spot?

          3. Naveen started practising mathematical problems at 7:15 p.m. and continued to 10:05 p.m.
How long did he spend in practising mathematical problems?
          4. A book fair began on 18th January and last for 12 days. When will the last day of the fair.

          5. Count number of days between 26th January 2019 to 15th August 2019.
              [Hint: Exclude both the days.]

          6. Akshat is 2 years 8 month old. His mother is 24 years 9 month older than him. How old is
              Akshat’s mother?

        Temperature
Temperature is the measure of how hot or how cold something is. We use thermometers to
        measure temperature.

        Measuring Temperature

Thermometer: There are two types of thermometer scales used:

               (i) Degree Celsius (°C) (ii) Degree Fahrenheit (°F)

          (i) Degree Celsius scale: This scale is divided into 100 equal parts. The lower point is 0°C
(freezing point of water) and upper point is 100°C (boiling point of water).

(ii) Degree Fahrenheit scale: This scale is divided into 180 equal parts. The lower point is 32°F
(freezing point of water) and upper point is 212°F (boiling point of water).

Conversion of Celsius Scale into Fahrenheit Scale

To change Celsius into Fahrenheit scale use this formula: F = 9 C + 32
                                                                                  5

Conversion of Fahrenheit Scale into Celsius Scale

To change Fahrenheit into Celsius scale, use this formula: C = 5 (F – 32)
                                                                                   9

               Let’s Attempt

        Example 1: Change 45°C into °F.
        Solution: Given, C = 45°C

                                                   9 9 9
                          We know that, F = C + 32 = × 45 + 32 = 9 × 9 + 32
                                                   5 5

                                                 = 81 + 32 = 113°F Fact-o-meter
                                                                       Freezing point of water = 32°F = 0°C,
                          Thus, 45°C = 113°F.
                                                                       boiling point of water = 212°F = 100°C.
