P. 33
Addition and Subtraction 31
Let’s Attempt
Example 1: Subtract: 68416 + 6128 – 5128.
Solution: Step 1: Step 2:
1 1 6 14 3 14
6 8 4 1 6 7 4 5 4 4
+ 6 1 2 8 – 5 1 2 8
7 4 5 4 4 6 9 4 1 6
Thus, 68416 + 6128 – 5128 = 69416.
Example 2: Mr Bansal bought 51854 pieces of marble slabs and sold 38125 of these. On the
next day, he bought 75002 marble slabs more. How many marble slabs are now
there with him?
Solution: Number of marble slabs Mr Bansal bought = 51854
Number of marble slabs Mr Bansal sold = 38125
Now, Mr Bansal has = 51854 – 38125 4 11 4 14
= 13729 marbles slabs 5 1 8 5 4
Next day Mr Bansal bought – 3 8 1 2 5
= 75002 marble slabs
1 3 7 2 9
Thus, total number of marble slabs he has
1
= 13729 + 75002 = 88731 1 3 7 2 9
Therefore, Mr Bansal has 88731 marble slabs.
+ 7 5 0 0 2
