ACTIVITY 3.6

OBJECTIVE
To verify Lagrange’s Mean Value Theorem.

MATERIAL REQUIRED
Y A piece of cardboard or drawing board
Y Wires/threads of different lengths
Y White paper

Y Sketch pen
Y Some board pins

PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE
1. Knowledge of differentiability.
2. Knowledge of continuity of a function.
3. Knowledge of Lagrange’s mean value theorem.

PROCEDURE
1. Take a piece of cardboard and paste a white paper on it.

2. Take two wires of convenient size and fix them on the white paper pasted on the plywood to represent
x-axis and y-axis (Fig. (a)).
