1. You can also apply an effect to the layer by double-clicking the layer in the Layers panel, and selecting
an effect in the Layer Style dialog box.

WORKING WITH TEXT
Photoshop 2022 provides Type tools to insert text in an image. When you insert text in an image, a new
type layer is added to the Layers panel.
Some commonly used Type tools in Photoshop 2022 are – Horizontal
Type Tool and Vertical Type Tool. Horizontal Type tool inserts text in
the horizontal direction, while Vertical Type tool inserts text in the
vertical direction.

Inserting Text
To insert text in an image:
1. Open a saved image. 4
2. In the Tools panel, select the Horizontal Type Tool or
the Vertical Type Tool.
3. In the Options bar, select the font, font style, font size,
alignment, and colour for the text.

4. Click in the image to set an insertion point for the type.
A cursor blinks on the image. A new type layer is added to
the Layers panel.
5. Type the desired text.
6. Press the Enter key to create a new line.
7. When you finish typing the text, click the Commit
button on the Options bar or press the Ctrl + Enter keys.

Editing Text
After inserting the text in an image, you can edit it as desired. You
can insert new text, change existing text, delete text and much more.

To edit text in an image:
1. In the Tools panel, select the Type tool.
2. In the Layers panel, select the Type layer.

3. Position the insertion point in the text and edit the text as
desired.

4. In the Options bar, click the Commit button to apply the 3
changes or click the Cancel button to discard the changes.
