3.1 Choose a brush tip and set the options for blending mode.
3.2 Select Finger Painting to smudge using
the foreground colour at the beginning
of each stroke. If deselected, the Smudge
tool uses the colour under the pointer at 4
the beginning of each stroke.
4. Click and drag over an area of the image you
want to smudge.

The Dodge tool lightens the areas of an image while the Burn tool darkens the areas of an image.
To use Dodge or Burn tool:
1. Open a saved image.
2. In the Tools panel, select the Dodge tool or Burn tool.

3. In the Options bar, do the following:
3.1 Choose a brush tip and set brush options.
3.2 Select the Range option:
• Midtones: Changes the middle range of grays.
• Shadows: Changes the dark areas.
• Highlights: Changes the light areas.
3.3 Specify the Exposure level for the Dodge tool or the Burn tool.
4. Click and drag over an area of the image you want to lighten or darken.

WORKING WITH LAYERS
Layers can be imagined as multiple transparent sheets stacked on top of one another. Layers let you
work with one element of an image without affecting the
other elements. You can see through transparent areas of a Layers
layer to the layers below. You can move a layer to position the
content on the layer or change the opacity of a layer to make
content partially transparent.
