Selecting Layers
You can select one or more layers to work on them. A single selected layer is called the active layer.
• To select a layer, click it in the Layers panel.
• To select multiple contiguous layers, click the first layer, and then press the Shift key and click the
last layer.
• To select multiple non-contiguous layers, press the Ctrl key and click the desired layers.
• To select all layers, click Select on the Application Bar and select the All Layers option.
Changing the Order of Layers
To change the order of layers:
1. In the Layers panel, click and drag the 1 2
layer up or down.
2. Release the mouse button when the highlighted
line appears where you want to place the layer.

Hiding/Displaying Layers
You can hide the layers to view only certain portions of an image for easy
editing.
To hide/display a layer:
1. In the Layers panel, click the eye icon next to a layer to hide its content.
2. Click in the column again to re-display the content.
Renaming a Layer
You can give meaningful names to layers to reflect
their contents.
To rename a layer: 1 2
1. In the Layers panel, double-click the layer
name.
2. Type the new name and press the Enter key.
Deleting a Layer
You can delete the layers that are not required anymore.
1 To delete a layer:
1. In the Layers panel, select the layer you want to delete.
2. Drag the layer to the Delete icon at the bottom or press
the Delete key.

Flattening Layers
Flattening refers to merging all visible layers into the background layer. You can flatten the layers in an
image to reduce the file size.
