Orientation
Orientation refers to the direction of cell contents inside a cell. By default, the orientation of the cell contents
in Excel is horizontal. You can change the orientation of the contents of a cell to add emphasis to it.
To change the orientation of contents of a cell:
1. Select the cell range whose orientation you want to
change.
2. On the Home tab, click the Orientation button
in the Alignment group, . 1
A menu appears which displays various predefined
orientation options.
3. Click the desired option. 2
Excel changes the orientation of the cell contents as per the selected option.
The various orientations for cell contents are shown in the figure.

To change the direction of cell contents to a specific
angle, click Format Cell Alignment option in the
Orientation menu.
On the Alignment tab in the Format Cells dialog box,
drag the orientation marker to a desired angle or type
the specific angle in the Degrees spin box.
WORKING WITH LONG TEXT
When the text in a cell does not fit inside it, Excel either displays the text over the next cell if it is empty
or displays only part of the text if the next cell contains data. In such case, you can use the Wrap Text or
Merge & Center formatting options to view the text clearly.
