To change page orientation: 1
1. On the Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click
the Orientation button.
A drop-down list appears.
2. Select the Portrait or Landscape option.
Word displays the page according to the selected 2
orientation.
Page Size
Word 2016 offers a variety of predefined page sizes
to choose from. By default, Word uses A4 paper size. 1
To set the page size of a document:
1. On the Layout tab, in the Page Setup group,
click the Size button.
A drop-down list of predefined page sizes 2
appears.
2. Select the desired page size.
Word applies the selected page size to the
document and adjusts the text accordingly.
Page Background
Word 2016 offers page background options to make your
document visually interesting. You can add a colour or a
border to pages in a document.
1 To add a colour to a page:
1. On the Design tab, click the Page Color button in the Page
Background group.

A menu of swatches of various colours appears.
2. Select a desired colour swatch from the Theme Colors or
Standard Colors palette.
Word applies the selected background colour to all pages
in the document.
To add borders to a page:
1. On the Design tab, click the Page Borders button in the Page 1
Background group.
The Borders and Shading dialog box opens with the Page
Border tab selected.
