                                                      Create a Spreadsheet

Data analysis, calculations, decision making are some important parts of today’s competitive world of business.
The organized representation of data, complex calculations, statistical analysis, comparisons, and graphical
representation of data are the jobs which are frequently performed in large organizations and institutions to
manage their operations. Thus carrying out all such jobs manually is not only tedious and time consuming but
            also error prone.
Electronic spreadsheets are the computerized solution to all such problems. In these spreadsheets, data can
be stored easily in tabular form and all type of calculations, analysis, etc. can be performed very quickly and
accurately. The various electronic spreadsheet programs are available like Google Sheets, LibreOffi ce Calc,
iWork Numbers, Microsoft Excel, etc. In this chapter, we are going to learn the use of LibreOffi ce Calc, one of the
            most popular spreadsheet applications.

            Features of Spreadsheet
An electronic spreadsheet provides various advantages over manually created worksheet:

v Large amount of numeric or non-numeric data can be stored, modifi ed and manipulated easily in these
                 spreadsheets.

v It acts as an automatic calculator based on the added formulas which perform calculations on the stored
numeric data very quickly and accurately.
v Various data formatting features allow data to be represented in the desired manner without changing its
                 value.
v Common operations like copying, moving or deleting data can easily be performed easily.
v Features like AutoComplete and AutoCorrect make data entry easy and error free.

v The process of what–if analysis helps in taking complex decisions.
v Number data can be quickly and easily converted into digital charts for easy data analysis.
v Built-in functions can be used for performing complex calculations and data analysis.

v Data can be imported from and exported to other applications.

            Introduction to LibreOffice Calc
LibreOffi ce Calc is an electronic spreadsheet program. It is the spreadsheet component of LibreOffi ce suite,
which is one of the most widely used application software for data analysis. LibreOffi ce Calc allows to store data
in the form of rows and columns. Both number or text type of data values can be used in the worksheet on which
you can perform different type of operations using built in functions or with the help of user defi ned formulas.
