There are three types of persons:
I, me (singular)
First Person
we, us (plural)
you (singular)
Second Person
you (plural)
he, him, she, her, it (singular)
Third Person
they, them (plural)
The fi rst person means the person or people speaking.
The second person means the person spoken to.
The third person means the person spoken of.
Possessive Pronouns
The possessive pronouns stand for people or things who own something.
Read the following sentences.
This bag is mine. That pen is yours.
Those books are ours. These crayons are theirs.
The doll is hers. The car is his.
In the above sentences, the words mine, yours, ours, theirs, hers and his are possessive
pronouns. We use yours for both one and more than one person. In these sentences,
there are also demonstra� ve pronouns such as this, that, these, etc. about which we
studied in the previous classes.
