A noun that refers to a male is said to be of the masculine gender.
A noun that refers to a female is said to be of the feminine gender.
Read the following sentences:
Rachit is a boy. He is playing with his father.
Here, boy and father refer to males. Therefore, they are of the masculine gender.
Tiger, duke, bull, husband, grandfather, gentleman, etc. are some nouns of the
masculine gender.
Shalini is a girl. She helps her mother.
Here, girl and mother refer to females. Therefore, they are of the feminine gender.
Tigress, duchess, cow, wife, grandmother, lady, etc. are some nouns of the feminine
gender.
