Solution: (a) 0.7 = 7 (b) 2.3 = 23 (c) 0.005 = 5

Example 3: Write the number names of the following decimals.

Example 4: Write 398.246 in expanded form and then write the place value of each of its digits.
Solution: Placing 398.246 in the place value chart, we get:

Expanded form of 398.246 = 300 + 90 + 8 + 2 + 4 + 6
