 Medium Icons: This displays the icons in medium size.

 Small Icons: This displays the icons in small size.
 List: This displays the icons in column form.

 Details: This displays the name, size, type, date of modifi cation, etc. for each icon.
 Tiles: This displays the icons as tiles, similar to Medium icons.

 Content: This displays the icons in detailed view, but the icon size is larger.

Common Desktop Operations
There are various common Desktop operations in Windows 10.

Changing the Desktop Background
We can change the desktop background to an image of our choice.

Step 1: Right-click on an empty area of the Desktop and click on Personalize option.
A window opens that provides options to personalize the Desktop.
Step 2: Click the arrow under Background option and select Picture option.
Step 3: Click the Browse button.
The Open dialog box opens.

Step 4: Select a picture and click the Choose Picture button.
Windows displays the selected picture as the wallpaper.

Working with Desktop Icons

Small pictures that represent a program, a fi le or a folder are called icons. We see icons on the Desktop, on the
Taskbar and in all opened programs.
The two main icons on the Desktop are:

This PC icon displays all the hard disk drives, saved fi les and folders. Double-click on the icon to
open it.

Recycle Bin icon displays all the deleted fi les and folders. It is like a dustbin of our
computer. We can get our deleted fi les back from the Recycle Bin. When there is
no fi le in the Recycle Bin, the icon changes to an empty dustbin.
