Compound Sentences
A compound sentence is formed when two independent clauses are joined together by a coordinating conjunction
such as ‘and’, ‘but’, ‘or’, etc.
            For example:

 The day was very hot. We went for a long swim.
The day was very hot and we went for a long swim.
 Arjun may come this evening. He may come tomorrow morning.
Arjun may come this evening or he may come tomorrow morning.
In above sentences, the coordinating conjunctions highlighted join the two principal clauses. Each sentence is
made up of two independent clauses. One is joined by the conjunction ‘and’, the other by the conjunction ‘or’.
Each part (clause) contains a subject and a predicate of its own. Each clause is independent and has meaning of
            its own.
Some commonly used coordinating conjunctions are:

for and nor but or yet so

            Complex Sentences
A complex sentence consists of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.
            For example:
 Open the door after seeing through the eyehole.
 We left the car in the parking lot while we went about our shopping.
 My sister and I could be mistaken for twins though I am a little taller.
 Let us leave before the crowd gets unruly.
In the above sentences, the highlighted words are subordinating conjunctions.

Some commonly used subordinating conjunctions are:

                 after since if even because
                 unless whereas wherever while although
                 though until when whenever as

            Compound-Complex Sentence

A compound-complex sentence is one that contains two independent clauses in addition to a dependent clause.
            For example:

 Adi hit the ball, so Sumit ran the to second base without getting tagged.

            Complete Sentences
Generally speaking, in order for a sentence to be complete, it must consist of a subject and a verb and it must
            express a complete thought.
            For example:
 Sita walked along the holy river Ganga.
If we take out Sita or walked, we would have an incomplete sentence expressing an incomplete thought.
