Parts of Speech

Words in English language are divided into eight categories according to the functions they perform. These are
called Parts of Speech. The different parts of speech explain how a word is used in a sentence.

        Noun
A noun is a word used to name a person, place, animal or thing and also something that can only be thought of
        but cannot be seen.
        For example:

        Pronoun
A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun. There are different kinds of pronouns. Just like nouns, pronouns
        also have number and gender.
        For example:

 Geeta, I had left my books here. Have you seen them?

        Verb
A verb is a word that expresses an action (walk, eat, sleep) or a state of being (is, am, are, was, were). It is one
of the most important parts of speech as there can be no sentence without a verb.
        For example:
 The farmer plucked the apples and placed them in a cart.
 Alaska is a cold country.
 When are you at home today?
