Steps to Ensure Safety from Malware

Prevention is always better than cure. You must always take measures to ensure that malware is not able to get
to your computer system. Some steps to prevent malware and virus affecting your computer are:
v Install an antivirus software to scan your computer for malware and viruses and remove them.

v Install a firewall to prevent unauthorised access to private networks by users connected to the Internet.
v Before you run a program for the first time, check it with an antivirus software.
v Every time you insert any removable media into your computer, scan it first for malware.

v If you access Internet frequently and download content from it, use a virus scanner that scans the downloaded
content and the websites for malware.
v Use software from trusted sources.
v Do not open email attachments without scanning them.

v Scan files transferred through a network or removable disk.
v Adjust security settings in your browser to ensure maximum protection.
v Never use pirated software.

v Always keep your antivirus software updated with latest virus definitions.

Antivirus Software

Antivirus software are the utilities which prevent viruses from entering the system. They can also detect and
remove a virus, if already present in the system. These are memory resident programs and get activated as soon
as the system is started. It checks all the files in the system and in case any virus is detected, it is removed. Also,
while working on the computer, if some infected storage device is connected, it generates warning messages and
stops the data transfer.

But, as new viruses are being introduced time to time, an antivirus software may not prove effective in removing
them. So, it is very important to keep the antivirus updated with the definitions of new viruses, which can be

are: Norton, AVG, Quick Heal, Avast, McAfee, PC-cillin, etc.

To start Seqrite Endpoint Security Antivirus:

Step 1: Click on Start button.
Step 2: Click on Seqrite Endpoint Security option from the program list.
Step 3: Click on Seqrite Endpoint Security.

The Seqrite Endpoint Security main window will appear on the screen.
Step 4: To perform a complete system scan, click on Scan ( ) option in the lower right corner of the window
and choose the option Full System Scan in the Scan menu.
