Create and Apply Styles in the Document

A style is a predefined combination of font style, colour, and size that can be applied to any text in a document.
In Writer, every predefined style has its own significance i.e. heading style will have features related to text of
the main body of the document. You can quickly apply these styles on the text in a document.
Let’s say each heading in a document must be centred, uppercase, bold, and font size should be 16 pt. Each
time you need to apply formatting to the heading, you have to go through the entire process to get the text the
way you want it. If you store the formatting commands as a style, you can apply that style any time you need it

without having to do all the formatting separately.
LibreOffice Writer has six style categories:

v Paragraph styles affect entire paragraphs represented with those styles.
v Character styles affect a block of text inside a paragraph.

v Page styles affect page formatting (page size, margin, etc).
v Frame styles affect frames and graphics.

v List styles affect outlines, numbered lists, and bulleted lists.
v Table styles affect the appearance of tables.

        Advantages of Styles
Some of the advantages of styles are:

v Consistency: By using styles, you can ensure that formatting is consistently applied throughout a document
            or between documents.

v Efficiency: You can control formatting more easily because the format for all parts of a document to which
a style has been applied can be adjusted simply by changing the style. You can reformat a document to
improve its appearance or to meet the requirements of a supervisor or specific publisher by modifying the
style instead of manually modifying the appearance of several paragraphs.
v Automation: You can use styles to automate the creation of document features such as a table of contents.

        Styles Window
Styles are available through a floating or dockable window called Styles window. This window is at the centre
        of styles management.
