Let’s Learn Simple Past Tense
In simple past tense, the verbs tell us about the past.
Read the following sentences.
She walked with her father.

Vasco da Gama discovered the sea route to India.

My grandfather wrote many books for children.
O
The first sentence tells us that she walked with her father at some time in the past.
The second sentence tells us that Vasco da Gama discovered the sea route at some
time in the past.
Similarly, the third sentence tells us that my grandfather wrote many books at some
time in the past.
All the highlighted verbs are in the simple past tense.
Formation of the Simple Past Tense
We use the past (second) form of the verbs to denote the simple past tense.
