There are different kinds of verbs.

                                                                Verbs

                Transitive Verbs

A verb that requires an object to complete its meaning is called a transitive verb.

                Read the following sentences.

                    Mohit flies a kite.

In the above sentence, kite is the object of the verb flies.

                    The teacher wants a pen.

In the above sentence, pen is the object of the verb wants.

Now, read the following sentences without their objects.

                    Mohit flies.
                O
                   The teacher wants.
                O
The above sentences are incomplete. These require objects to complete their meaning.

So, in the above sentences, flies and wants are transitive verbs, as they require objects.
