In these sentences, the words a doctor, mad, ill and angry are complements to the

verbs.

The verbs is, was, appears and seems are incomplete verbs because they do not show
any action or possession in these sentences.

The verbs be (is, are, am, was, were, shall be, will be), appear and seem are incomplete

verbs.
