For this activity the teacher will call each student individually. The teacher will speak two
similar sentences keeping the subject same but changing the second sentence to the
plural form. The teacher will then ask for the right suggestion from the student for the

place of apostrophe—after or before the letter s.

Teacher : This is girls dress.
: These are girls dresses.

Student : In the first sentence, an apostrophe between girl and s.

: In the second sentence, an apostrophe after s in girls.

Read the paragraph given below.

The house of Deepak is in the corner of the road. Nancy is the neighbour of Deepak.
Behind their houses is the playground of the school. The office of the principal also faces
the houses of Nancy and Deepak. They talk to each other from the balconies of their

rooms. They are in the teams of sports of the school. Deepak is in the team of cricket.
Nancy is in the team of basketball. They won the tournaments of last year and took away
the medals of the president.

Now, rewrite the given paragraph by replacing the underlined groups of words using

apostrophe.
