        We use an apostrophe (’) with a noun (with or without s) to show possession.


        Use of Apostrophe ( ’ ) with Singular Nouns

        We use an apostrophe (’) with s when a noun is singular.

            For example

                the books of a student                            —      a student’s books

                the car of my father                              —      my father’s car
            O
                the pen of the teacher                            —      the teacher’s pen
            O
                the dog of Meera                                  —      Meera’s dog
            O
                the crops of the farmer                           —      the farmer’s crops
