Paragraph Writing

Note to the students:
A paragraph is a series of sentences which has just one idea or theme. The first sentence

itself must tell what the paragraph is all about.

Read the following paragraphs carefully:

Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa is also known as the

“Blessed Teresa of Calcu� a”. She

was born on 26th August, 1910, in

Yugoslavia. She came to India in 1929.
She was a Roman catholic nun who

moved to Calcu� a’s slums to serve

the poor. In 1950, she established the

poor, helpless, disabled and diseased.
Today, there are missionaries in more

than 100 countries. She was awarded

the � tle of 'Padma Shri' in 1962. She

received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

Later, in 1980, she received 'Bharat
Ratna', the highest civilian award in

India. She was the fi rst ci� zen of India

to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
