Perfect Tenses
The tense that tells us about an action that occurred at any given time, in the present, past or
future is called the perfect tense.
Present Perfect Tense
The present perfect tense is used:
¾ to indicate an action that has been completed in the immediate past.
Read the sentence given below.
• She has just finished watering the plants.
¾ to describe an action beginning at some point of time in the past and continuing till the
present moment.

• She has been with us since he was born.
¾ to express past actions, the time for which is unknown.
