               Warm-up




            Each sentence contains a preposition mistake. Correct the mistakes, and write the sentences
            in the given space.

            1.  My sister’s birthday is on July.            ________________________________________
            2.  I have been familiar with him for 2023.  ________________________________________

            3.  John is good in English.                    ________________________________________
            4.  Now, let us discuss about this matter.      ________________________________________





          The word that is used to link nouns, pronouns, or phrases to other words within a sentence is
          called the preposition. It is usually placed before a noun.

          Most prepositions are interchangeable, but, in some cases, only specific prepositions can be used
          to show the connection between words in a sentence more clearly.

            All prepositions must be followed by a noun or pronoun as they show the position of the
               noun.
          Read the sentences given below.

               l   I read books in the library.

               l   The car went through the tunnel.
               l   She drove to the store.

            Prepositions also show the relation between two things.

          Read the sentences given below.
               l   The candies are in the box. (It shows the relation between two nouns.)

               l   Go up the mountain. (It shows the relation between verb and noun.)

               l   She is tall for her age. (It shows the relation between adjective and noun.)

          Types of Prepositions

          There are three types of prepositions.
              1.   Preposition of place          2.   Preposition of time           3.  Preposition of direction
