Adverbs of Reason
The adverbs that answer the question why are called the adverbs of reason. Some commonly used
adverbs of reason are because, as, since, etc.
Read the sentences given below.
l I went to agra because I wanted to see the Taj Mahal.
l We eat fruits so that we get all the nutritions and vitamins.
Interrogative Adverbs
The adverbs that are used at the beginning of a sentence to ask questions are called the interrogative
adverbs.
Read the sentences given below.
l Where is my passport? (place) l When are you reaching Delhi? (time)
l How are you? (manner) l Why are you so late? (reason)
Adverbs of Degree
The adverbs that are used to depict the intensity of an adjective, a verb, or another adverb are
called the adverbs of degree. They are usually placed before the word they modify.
Read the sentences given below.
l They were almost finished. (Here, almost tells us that the team will be arriving very shortly.)
l The water was extremely cold. (Here, extremely tells us that the water was cold to a great
degree.)
