Let us multiply 32 by 21.

First of all we arrange the numbers as per their place values and follow these steps:

Step-1: Multiply 32 by 1 one.

H T O 32 × 1 = 32

3 2 Write 32 in the fi rst row.

3 2 Step-2: Next, multiply 32 by 2 tens.

+ 6 4 0 32 × 2 tens = 32 × 2 × 10 = 64 × 10 = 640
6 7 2 Write 640 in second row.

Step-3: Add the two numbers in both the rows.

32 + 640 = 672

Thus, 32 × 21 = 672

Example 1: Multiply 24 by 32.

Solution: Arrange the numbers as per their place values.
